The goals of the Sports Management major are to:

  1. To provide students with the ability to manage sports programs.
  2. To provide students with a comprehensive curriculum to prepare them for entry level opportunites in the sport management industry. 
  3. To facilite experiental learning opportunites for the personal and professional career development of students.
  4. To prepare students for ethical leadership iin the sport industry.
  5. To develop learning opportunities where students can apply course knowledge to practical experiences.
  6. To prepare students for effective writing and communication skills in the sport industry.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Critical Thinking and Ethical Decision Making
    • Students will display critical thinking skills applying ethical decision - making frameworks.
  2. Sports Management Content
    • The student will apply course knowledge to practical expereinces through application and / or reflection.  
  3. Written and Communication Skills
    • Students will demonstrate proficiency in writing and communicating sport management content to different audiences.  
  4. Professional Development and Career Planning
    • Students will be prepared for professional success through experiential learning activities.

The total program will consist of 124 credit hours distributed over eight (8) academic semesters.
