Description Provides an in-depth look at key constitutional, legal and policy influences on the current regulatory environment for journalism and the mass media. Specifically, this course examines the legal, regulatory, and ethical issues involving print and broadcast media and the Internet, including libel obscenity, invasion of privacy, shielding of sources, freedom of the press, copyright and government regulations. In addition, this course provides an example of how the study of journalism and mass communication intersects with other academic disciplines, such as political science and law.
