HFIN 350 - Healthcare Revenue Cycle Reporting

Description
This course introduces concepts and functions of revenue cycles in healthcare. The student will learn about automated healthcare revenue cycle systems, and the features they offer healthcare management. Patient data, facility data, payment data, and time stamp records are all integrated into this course to bring a holistic view to students as to how revenue is collected in the healthcare field. The revenue cycle will touch on how budgets are built based on revenue recorded quarterly and annually.

  • Understand the functions of the revenue cycles
  • Learn the technical infrastructure required for health information system (HIS) including distributed architecture, network and security design
  • Learn best-practices for deploying HIS including project management, typical budgets, system selection and governmental requirements and funding
  • Present results of their work in a “real-world” fashion including class presentations and written assignments
