The goals of the Mass Communications major are to:

Aid and assist students to fully comprehend the nature and scope of mass media and its impact on a changing society;
Prepare graduates who are independent professional communicators capable of growing and changing to meet the demands of a global society.
Serve the University and community by providing knowledge and expertise in the area.

Program Student Outcomes:

Students will demonstrate proficiency in Mass Communication knowledge and skills.
Conduct research and evaluate information by methods appropriate to the communications professions.
Communicate appropriately and accurately in forms and styles applicable to the communications professions, diverse audiences, and the purposes they serve.
Apply theories in the use and presentation of images and information.

The Major in Mass Communication Requires:
