The goals of the General Public Health major are to:
- Provide students with the dynamics of issues related to infectious diseases, chronic disorders, environmental hazards, injury, abuse, violence and access to health care;
- Engage students in developing an understanding of the public health professionalism.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
- Apply the public health and community health education interventions to real life situations
- Plan and implement health education strategies, interventions, and programs to be able to identify the problem, justify the predicted outcome, analyze the data, and synthesize the conclusion
- Assess individual and community needs for health education
Public health is a field of study that offers a variety of job opportunities for a variety of interests and skills. Those who are interested in math, research or working with people, will find a niche in the field of public health.
